Rex was CEO of the Forever Group. He had to have an understanding of direct sales, agriculture and processing, real estate, and recreation, as well as the ability to support charitable organizations.
He and his wife had three children and now have 12 grandchildren. He has achieved significant success in a number of areas, one of the most notable of which is the award he received for his work to save rainforests in the southwestern US.
When Rex was working as a missionary in the Samoan Islands, on the South Pacific coast, the writings of Robert Louis Stevenson, who spent the last years of his life there, captured his imagination. He developed such a deep respect for the Samoan people and their land that decades later he established the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum and the Heritage Foundation, whose mission is to restore Stevenson's 1890s home in Apia, Samoa.
Today, the museum is a top attraction for tourists, local visitors and school children.
Rex Maughan was Vice Chairman of Del Webb Company and Executive Vice Chairman of Del E. Webb Real Estate for 13 years. He has used his expertise to transact more than $100 million in real estate transactions in various locations throughout the United States. In Arizona and Nevada, he was responsible for the operation and management of lakefront boardwalks and marina pools. As a Director of Mayer Central Building Cooperation, Rex demonstrated exceptional skills in all aspects of leasing, management and administration. He has completed $50 million in real estate transactions - hotel and apartment projects and office complexes - in Arizona and New York. He has achieved outstanding results and has received high honors for his exceptional business success, contributions and dedication to the university.
This is how Rex described himself:
A hard-working, intelligent, dedicated man who has achieved everything on his own. He loves people, especially product marketers. Success, I believe, is a willingness to dream, to work hard, to constantly strive to do good and serve, to build a team, and to have no doubts."
Three of his many famous sayings are quoted below. These were perhaps the most important.
Do more than others say is necessary, be bolder than others say is safe, dream bigger than others say is reasonable, and expect more than others say is possible!
Love what you do! Appreciate the people who help you on your way and you will find that work becomes a vocation.
